The Best Wedding Ever
January 15, 2010
Recently I planned my own wedding and unbeknownst to me was that I was planning the best wedding ever. I started receiving the feedback when I rang my parents before leaving for our honeymoon and my mother relaying feedback from our family that our wedding was the best that they have ever attended. And my family have attended many weddings. Initially I thought it was nice of my family to say that but then thought nothing of it. Upon returning from my honeymoon and catching up with friends, many of my husband’s friends commented on how good the wedding was and that it was the best wedding they had been to, my friends also shared this opinion as did the people I worked with that attended the wedding.
There were definitely some key elements that made our wedding different and special. So let me tell you more about the wedding and some things that in planning phase made our wedding so entertaining and fun.
Weddings are often considered boring and dutiful occasions full of tradition and ceremony. The speeches are generally long and cumbersome and the music drab and clichéd. I mean if I have to hear ‘nut bush city limits’ at any wedding one more time. So when planning my own wedding, I wanted to create an atmosphere true celebration. A big party if you will.
One of the things most important to me in creating a great atmosphere is the music, and if that isn’t right then the event is bore. Wedding entertainment is often the hardest thing to get right. Coming from and ethnic background and having to accommodate guest s from different walks of life presented a further challenge. Being we are a Middle Eastern and New Zealand couple meant social traditions on both sides. I wanted to incorporate the cultural traditions I liked.
The paid entertainment we included were a belly dancer who engaged the crowd for 20 mins of the event. We also included a band to play Middle Eastern music along with a DJ who also was the MC to play English music. The DJ we hired was fantastic and an integral part of our event. He facilitated and coordinated all the entertainment on the night to ensure that everything ran smoothly and on time. The changeovers between entertainers were seamless. He was also very flexible and amiable as we had some additional unexpected entertainment on the night. My husband’s family being form New Zealand had practiced and decided to surprise us by performing the Hakka which our DJ was also able to fit in to the itinerary. It was brilliant as all cultures were entertained and there was always something to watch.
Our Wedding DJ also included every song we wanted on the night. He was very accommodating, professional and eager to please. He understood the type of music we like and shared our taste in music. He was a perfect fit for our wedding.
The key to making your wedding memorable and special is to create a fun atmosphere. You want your guests to enjoy themselves and celebrate your marriage not to be bogged down by formalities. Perhaps try to find some entertainment for your wedding that’s different and unique and represents you as a couple. Finally, let your hair down and enjoy yourself, after all it is your day. And if the bride and groom are enjoying themselves so will the guests.

Cheap Wedding Ideas – Saving Money on Location, Reception and Decorations
December 17, 2009
While most of the couple today are thinking of preparing a fortune to spend for one of their most memorable day – wedding, some might find this hard to believe that planning a cheap wedding is quite easy to do. Just like planning for an extravagant wedding celebration, cheap wedding ideas are also great and fun, and can be really unique and creative, too! So if you are one of many couples who opt to have a cheap wedding without compromising what you have desired to be in your special day, consider saving money on your wedding location, reception and decorations.
One way to trim down your wedding expenditures is by planning of having a cheap wedding location. Planning to have this cheap idea is not impossible to do. In fact, you can have your wedding ceremony in a variety of locations that are completely free. A great example could be a local park. Usually, going to a local public parks doesn’t require any fees, and so planning a cheap wedding ceremony there doesn’t give you any cost. They don’t usually require any permits of other fees too. However, just make sure you have double checked it with your local city authorities before anything else.
Beaches are also a free place where you can held your wedding. Other ideas may include: having your wedding at a family member’s home, or having it in your own backyard. If you and your partner loves nature, it may be free or very inexpensive to have your ceremony at a local zoo, nature reserve, or even at flower conservatory also.
Another area where you can save some money is your wedding reception. If you are on a tight budget, you can always go with cheap wedding reception, and believe or not this is not too difficult either. One of the most popular cheap reception is idea is to make a pot luck meal. You can ask each of your guests to bring their own dish. But if you’d rather not ask guests to bring food for your wedding reception, then perhaps asking a few family members to get together and cook food as a wedding gift for you can lighten your burden.
Planning a cheap wedding receptions should also involve choosing cheap location for the reception too. Example, if you’d like to have your wedding ceremony in the gazebo at the park, then perhaps the best reception option could be a barbecue or picnic style in that same park. Another easy and cheap option is of course, having your wedding ceremony in your own home. Then you can have your reception in your home as well, or out in the backyard if the weather agreed.
Wedding decorations are not only fun to deal with, but they can also cut down your wedding expenses.
You don’t have to go without them completely though, but that doesn’t mean you have to spend a big amount of dollars, rather you just need to improvise. Example, instead of buying expensive flowers for instance, try decorating with balloons and streamers instead. You may purchase a few spools of pretty ribbon at the nearest craft store or fabric store. Grab few balloons and tie them together using the strips of the ribbon. Also tie the ribbons into bows themselves, then tape the ribbon bows around for decorations by themselves.
Other ways where you can save money on your wedding is to purchase cheap wedding favors, inexpensive bridesmaids gifts, and discount groomsmen gifts. Giving wedding gifts to your guests and attendants doesn’t give you any reason to overspend your budget. After all, it is not the cost that is being valued, rather the thought behind it.

Tips That You Can Use for Planning a Simple (and Economical) Wedding
December 10, 2009
Planning a wedding is not easy. There are many things that you need to consider (especially when you are expecting hundreds of guest to come). Sometimes, it could really take months to plan for it especially when you are thinking of an extravagant celebration. Well, you cannot blame the couple. It is their day and anyone who hears the word wedding thinks it should be special. Therefore, if both couples are willing to spend more for their union, that should not be a problem. In fact, it will be most entertaining for guests.
Although some of us wish that we could afford to have a big wedding, others want it to be small, solemn and private. Others are more practical, they prefer to have a simple white dress than going over to couture shops and get the latest of Vera Wang. No fancy meals cooked by famous chefs and no media to cover the wedding. Others prefer it to be more relaxed and simple. Therefore, if you are one of these people, take these simple tips on how to add a few twists on your simple wedding celebration:
â¢Â   Do not forget to workout the invitations. You can do it yourself with the use of beautiful, scented and colorful papers printed with the details of the wedding. To top it off you can use various handy crafts to accessorize it.
â¢Â   Video coverage can be done without hiring a professional help. You can ask your brother or friends to help you out in doing the wedding videography. With the help of various video editing software tools, they can be easily transformed.
â¢Â   Choose food for the wedding that reflect what you and your partner like. It should be all about the two of you and sharing what you two are like with your guests.
â¢Â   Since this is a simple wedding, invite people who have made a big impact in both of your lives. If your house has big loan, you can make it your reception area. You can simply transform it with the use of tables and chairs with proper setting and arrangements. Great lights make the place magical at night.
â¢Â   If you are thinking of covering your wedding through a simple wedding videography, you can use this to entertain your guests at the reception. At the same time, you can also make use of great music playing at the background. Collate songs that you and your partner both love. In addition, you can use them while you walk on the aisle and throughout the reception.
â¢Â   Tokens can be hand-made too. If you think you want it to be more personalized then you can do it on your own as well. This way you both can add personal touches on it.
â¢Â   Never forget to encourage your guests to have fun and party. Wedding celebrations should no be stiff and gloomy. Entertain them and make sure to go dancing at the end of the day. Make sure to have a dance floor for everybody.
Summary
Some of us may have the luxury of having extravagant wedding. While some of us do not have it, still it can be celebrated in a simple way. Remember, you can add a few things to it to spice it up and whether or not you spent less for it, everyone will enjoy the wedding because the real essence of it is about the newly weds. And this makes it special.
