Recommended Valentine’s Day Flowers from 1800flowers

February 10, 2010

As Valentine’s Day approaches, many people, men in particular, are scrambling to find the perfect gift for their love ones. Although there are many gifts available, flowers are still the most popular ones. This is maybe because flowers symbolize beauty and love. Flowers are also a reflection of women’s fragility and that they should be taken care of well by their partners. Furthermore, flowers provide a good medium to express the deepest feelings of love.

When selecting Valentine’s Day flowers, many recommend buying them from 1800flowers or 1-800-Flowers. 1800flowers specializes in retail sales of flowers and gifts within the country. MSNBC recently made a report comparing the company against its competitors. MSNBC said that 1800flowers has greater transparency in pricing and is more honest with regards to its pricing policies.

One flower package teenagers particularly like from 1800flowers is the Twilight Valentines Day Flowers Bundle. This package includes beautiful flowers and gifts inspired by Stephanie Meyer’s “Twilight” series. This will be the perfect gift for Edward Cullen, Jacob Black and Bella Swan fans. The concept comes in two packages. The Basic Package costs $49.95. It comes with 12 Premium long stem roses and an exclusive Twilight gift card/poster from Hallmark. A clear or silver vase is available at additional cost. The price of the Premium Package is $99.90. It includes 24 Premium long stem roses, pre-order “New Moon” DVD, an exclusive Hallmark Twilight card/poster, and collectible Twilight chocolate candy bars. A clear or silver vase is also available at an additional cost.

Wedding Checklist?

January 22, 2009

I just got engaged and I want to plan my wedding. Does anyone have a good checklist to go by? So far, the wedding colours are blue and white, we want to not have an expensive wedding maybe at a church, the date will be November '09.

I have a BILLION wedding planning QUESTIONS what do I do?? If you are planning your own wedding what are the..

January 22, 2009

easiest things you can do yourself and not pay someone else to do? If you have a catering service what are the things you need to pay them for and what are the things you can do yourself? If you purchase some sort of package do you get a discount for doing some of the things yourself? I am trying to plan my own wedding and I am a girl who never thought about this kinda stuff growing up, so I don't have a clue?? We don't have alot of money, but want to have the nicest wedding with what we have. How many people out there that planned there own wedding would do it all again the same way? How many people who are in the process of planning there own wedding wish they wouldn't have even started? Sorry:-( I said I had sooo many questions so anyone who can anwer any of them will be a help to me thank you in advance! And, I am sure I will be back for more help!!;-)

We're planning/paying our wedding right now for a guest list of 125 for under $1,600.00
Here's how–
1-NO SITE FEES- We're having the ceremony and reception in my parents back yard. I purchased 4 party tents (the white ones w/windowed side walls) off ebay for about $500. After the wedding, we're keeping 1 tent and selling the other 3, so we'll actually be getting "some" of our money back.

2-NO RENTAL FEES- Tables and chairs are being borrowed from our church for just a small donation to the church, cheaper than renting and it benefits our church!

3-NO CATERES- We're doing a "Family Favorites" buffet having family members supply "those certain" dishes that they are known for making so well. Then I'm going to print out little table tents saying who made what. IF you opt to supply the food yourself, keep your menu simple as far as the number/variety of dishes. It's better to have more of a few then just a few of more.

4-NO FLORIST/DECORATORS- I'm just going to carry a single red rose tied w/ribbon and long streamers, my maid of honor a white one. Making my own centerpieces, which I have TONS of ideas/designs that can all be done for less than $5-$8 each, feel free to email me for ideas if you'd like!

5-DON'T ORDER INVITATIONS- Cheaper to print your own…utilize your local discount stores…I found wedding invitation kits that will make 40 for $2.99 per kit at my local Ollies discount store. And each kit includes: Invitation, outer mailing envelope, RSVP cards, return envelopes, foil stickers, instruction sheet for setting up printer format, and a sheet w/suggested wording for different family/hosting situations.
They also had kits for Thank you cards that make 80 for $4.99. Basically I only spent about $11 for all my invites and Thank You cards, and they are just beautiful.

6-I found a DJ who is just starting out, but had done some other events for people I know, He came highly recommended and is only charging me $300 for the WHOLE DAY and all included!

7-KEEP AN OPEN MIND!!!! Don't get "stuck" on certain ideas/patterns/items….you'd be amazed how much EASIER it all falls together if you just sort of "roll with it"…it doesn't necessarily mean that you have to sacrifice anything, just be willing to bend.

I have TONS of money saving ideas (favors, decor, wishing well, etc)….if there are any certain areas that you need or would want some suggestions for…feel free to email me! I know it's a LOT to do, and anything that can be made easier should be!

Need to plan a wedding on a budget?

January 22, 2009

I just got engaged 2 weeks ago. My fiance and i have a house and daughter and plan to get married in August this year. I need any tips on planning a wedding on a budget. Very small budget!!! Please help. I live in Rhode Island! Thanks!!!!

Weddings are expensive if you want them to be. But if you want to keep money aside for a deposit on a house or a honeymoon to remember, then there are many cost cutting ideas. All you need is a little imagination, and some help from friends and family and you too can have a luxury wedding with all the trimmings.

How do I plan a cheap but nice wedding?

January 22, 2009

I'm getting married in November, and I need help planning for my wedding….classic but cheap. The colors will be chocolate and teal, with a few orange accents here & there….I'm hoping to have a deep creamy ivory dress. Help?

This place has some very nice but cheap wedding accessories! I'm getting a lot of stuff from here, and its almost all sized in bulk!

I also would suggest-Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Walmart, & K-Mart

For napkins, plates, silverware-if you are going with paper and plastic-check out your local dollar store they have a million colors in there of these or Party America Store.

Congrats! I know these places have helped me-my wedding is Sept 27th

how to plan my wedding reception?

January 22, 2009

i need help!! i don't know how i will plan my wedding reception? i have no idea of what the order or flow of the event.. need help ASAP!

having a DJ booked will help a ton!! they help set the tone for your reception (introduction for bridal party and you as a couple, dinner music, cake cutting, etc).

knowing what type of meal you'd like to have will help decide your venue (unless you have this chosen already).

there really isn't a set order for things but most receptions goe like this:

-greeting bridal party as you walk into reception hall (bridal party will be lined up next to the door)
-once everyone is seated, DJ will introduce bridal party (bridesmaids/groomsmen, flowergirl/ring bearer, parents of bride and groom, and then the happy couple)
-dinner is served
-cake cutting time
-once it looks like everyone is done w/dinner and cake then the special dances will start (bride/groom, mom/groom,bride/dad,etc)
-after this, open dancing while couple greet their guests/take pictures
-bouqet toss/garter toss
-open dancing/talking until end of reception

this is not set in stone but how most receptions usually flow.

hope this helps and congrats!!!

Wedding Planning on a Budget?

January 22, 2009

Hi I am recently engaged and I have begin the worrying of wedding planning. I always dreamed of "the perfect wedding" Seeing what everything costs nowadays has thrown me for a loop. My fiance and I are both still in college and we are both 23. Looking forward to getting married at 25. Any tips on budgeting for a wedding:?
We are both trying to keep it under $5000 since we are paying ourselves.
We are both trying to keep it under $5000 since we are paying ourselves.

There is a way!
There are lots of things you can do.
#1 you really have to prioritize
You CAN NOT have everything and anything. That's #1 Because of course if you want everything. Because everything cost money.

*Now you can do a lot of DIY (Do it yourself) things.
If you go to Michaels or Michaels.com (the store has more to choose from) They have very beautiful wedding invitations that you can print off yourself. Many of them are better than those in the catalogs.
*Use Silk Flowers- they are beautiful as well. Make your own Flowers, They are not that hard and you can also buy those things at Michaels.
*Go to bridal shows- I actually just went to one yesterday. There are many ideas there and lots of discounts (i got a $100 gift certificate from Davids bridal). I also won a wedding cake knife and server This set retails at $69.99.
* Have someone make your wedding dress, or you can even order off of ebay.
*If you have someone who bakes cakes in your family, see if they can make your wedding cake maybe as a bridal gift for you and your husband to be.
*DJ- make your own music, Have a family member or friend be your DJ, A friend of mine had lots and lots of songs loaded onto her laptop and had a family member play the songs she wanted, just hooked it up to lots of pro. Speakers.
*Have an Adult only reception. Or have an early wedding. Where at the reception you can serve small finger foods. Or try to find a reception site who allows you to bring in your own food.
*Find a photographer who has a set rate. Not one who charger per hour or per shot. This may be a little hard to find but THEY ARE OUT THERE. I know a few where I live (Columbus, OH) do this. One charges $450 edits, and touch ups everything she does, and put’s it on a disk then gives you rights to print them yourself. Or go to your local community college and ask a photography student to shoot your weding. Lots of people do this and the kids love it! (Also try this for your wedding cake)

If you need anything else let me know. I have many other ways to save!!!

how do I go about planning a destination wedding?

January 22, 2009

I would like more information about how to go about planning a destination wedding? I would love it if anyone had advice or names of places/people who I can contact to get more information.

A good starting place is picking the general location, like what country, or what city/state. You'll want to look at the marriage requirements for the country or state to see what is involved. Also, decide if the wedding is just the 2 of you or do you intend to invite family/friends. And pick a date range.

Once you have the general info, you can do web searches for good hotels, resorts, etc, that offer destination wedding packages. Many resorts like Sandals, Beaches, and Palace will offer packages that include a free wedding. But it can be easier to be married in the US sometimes.

Once you pick the location, they'll have a wedding coordinator or catering manager who will help you arrange other vendors like photographer, officiant, musicians, etc.

Congrats and have fun planning!

Are there any websites that have a CHECK LIST for WEDDING PLANNING to-dos?

I am suppose to help plan a wedding shower. does anybody know any games that we can play?

January 17, 2009

i have never even been to a wedding shower. so I dont even know what regular things you do at one is. And there is going to be some older family there and they are very big bible lovers so no nasty games please.

Buy a whole bunch of cheap toilet paper and pair everyone up. They have to take turns making wedding dresses for eachother out of the toilet paper. (By wrapping it around your clothes to make a top and skirt, tear off pieces and make toilet paper flowers to attach, draping peices over your head for a veil, stuff like that.) It's really fun! Then be sure to take pictures of everyone in their pretty new dresses! (The bride gets to pick whose dress is the best!)

Another fun game is to ask the groom a whole bunch of questions about the bride and their relationship (Such as "what's the bride's favorite color? what did you do on your first date? How many kids do you want to have? What is the groom's favorite food? What superhero would he like to be? etc.) Write them all down and then ask the bride the same questions at the shower. The guests write down how many they think she will get right. See how many she can get right. If she gets one wrong she has to put a piece of chewing gum in her mouth, so if she gets a lot wrong, she's trying to talk with like 10 peices of gum in her mouth! It's really funny.
